I've written another story

And this one wouldn't be good for a bedtime story to the kiddies. Dwimordene put up a Halloween Challenge at HASA and the idea hit me. I always wanted to read a story about Legolas in the time of the Necromancer. So I wrote one from a spider's point of view. Pretty creepy.

Oh, and about the dress, tried getting new pictures last Sunday, but by the time we got to the picture-taking, the sun was gone and I was once again in bad light.

Well, the page is up

The page is up: http://home.earthlink.net/~ainaechoiriel/sealonging.html. But the pictures aren't that good. I need better lighting. I'll replace them with better images when I have them.

I wore the dress on Saturday and it's just beautiful. It's also very warm.

It's DONE!

I ran out of thread while edge-finishing the seams. But that's all on the inside, so I can do that anytime. Today, I sewed hooks and tonight I sewed eyes.

The dress is done! And it looks and feels great! I will try to have a web page with pics up tomorrow night so you can see for yourself!

So close now!

I'm down to just edge-finishing the seams and sewing 12 eyes on the sleeve panels. Then the dress is done! I have worked on it every evening except last Friday. Last night I was working on those seams when I ran out of ink. So I'll probably work on the eyes tonight. I did the hooks just a bit ago.

This dress is going to look great!

Also, I had to move the site for the other one. My old username finally got deleted from the web server. So I set up a new site under my own name: home.earthlink.net/~ainaechoiriel/elf-renn.html

The new dress will have a site soon.

Nearly finished!

I began on Saturday evening and by Tuesday evening, I'm nearly done with the overdress for my new Elf dress. I still have to hem it and put on whatever fasteners I decide on.

I will also have to start on the green faux undersleeves, with 8 puttons and loops each! That will be fun. Not sure if I'm being sarcastic there or not.

Once it's all finished, I'll put it up on a web page for everyone to see. And of course, I'll be wearing at the Lord of the Rings exhibit in London on October 19th.

And so it begins

The sewing, that is. I started on Saturday night. I sewed all the main panels of the outer dress and it's looking good. It's very long. About four inches below my feet, and that's in the front. The back has a train!

I didn't find an exact match for the green, but I got something close and interesting. It almost seems to change color in different light when you move it around. I got 16 beautiful buttons to use for the sleeves as well, and an interesting trim to go around the arms.

On Sunday I sewed the collar facing. I still need to understitch it and press it down.

Last night, I worked on the sleeves. Or rather the modification to the sleeves. I hemmed the long panels and sewed them to the shorter sleeves.

Tonight, I want to finish the collar and then get those sleeves put together. I will try to get them sewn onto the main body of the dress, but I may have to save that for another day.
